Christine Daae - Halloween ideas...

Chemise - The chemise is made from a lace material intended for curtains from IKEA. It is, however, very soft and comfortable under the corset. I made it very basic, by folding a piece of material in half, cutting a hole for the arms and sewing up the sides completely. After this, I cut out arm holes, took it in to make it more formfitting and added the scalloped lace bits at the arms - Plus a trim from a craft store around the neck.

Skirt - The skirt was originally two layers of simple $1 bin organza. Seeing as this was completely see-through, three more layers were added. The colors are white and cream. There is a side zipper (my first zipper-install ever!) and a lace waistband (Hem Facing). The skirt has a small train and an overlay of the same lace used for the chemise.

Corset - Ebay - $20. (I totally recommend this!! The patterns for a corset alone give me nightmares)

Dressing Gown - This piece is the reason I have two seam rippers! The gown is made of yet another $1 bin white fabric from Walmart and a whole lot more. The basic construction of the gown took a little over two weeks. Do not trust sewing shop employees when they say buy the pattern according to your bust size. Trust your instinct. If you are a size 6-8, buy maybe a 10-12 - NOT a 16. Modifications of the intial product were nerve racking and I had many moments I wanted to give up. The gathering at the back of the gown (see pics) took three tries- and it still looks a bit sloppy. The gown has 2 lace trims, 2 different styles of sequin and come finish product - a scalloped train made of a shimmery wired ribbon to keep is splayed on the floor."

I want to do something like this on top of what I've already got. Any ideas on how to applique it?

Hats!

I wish I wore hats!!! This would be adorable. I also like the walls. The fancy mirror is a lot of fun. I also think the hat boxes are a CUTE way to store things. Maybe not the best use of space, but cute!

Color!

I just love the idea of putting checkerboard patterns around windows or mirrors. It helps define the space a little better. I also think it would be fun to paint dressers and bookshelves! Who said they have to be brown....?

More Magazine Mania!

I thought this would be a particularly clever trash can for the magazine bathroom, or a teenage bedroom. You could put whatever you wanted on it! Using trash to make a trash can! Could be considered economical...

Game Mania!

I thought this idea was so clever. I love games and I love puzzles! What a great way to bring that love to a fun room.

Magazine Madness!

I love that the stripes on this bathroom wall are nothing but shredded magazines. It reminds me of the walls in Subway Sandwiches. Could be a fun way to spend time sitting on the toilet.

Suitcase bedside table

I saw this luggage and thought that it was a great idea! You can paint it to make it look newer and use it to store pillows blankets etc. and it can also be used as an bedside table! I love it! I also love all the test tubes with a single flower. Nice touch!
